Are you looking for something in The Echo that you aren’t seeing? Tell us! We want to know what you want to read and see. Email us at wcsuecho@gmail.com or stop by our office – Student Center 212.
Staff Writer Ray Storez is among the blessings we count at The Echo. We, the editorial staff at The Echo, are proud to bestow upon him the honor of Staff Writer of the Month.
Ray has contributed some of our most newsworthy and fun-to-read articles this semester. As we publish our sixth issue, we have come to realize that we depend upon his versatility: he has the uncanny ability to write both informative news pieces (see “Flu Season: Keeping Campus Healthy,” Issue 4) and in-depth event coverage (see “No Sharks in the Water,” Issue 1). Also, with his eclectic taste in music, our Arts & Entertainment department knows that he can be depended on to provide the best information on the newest albums out from even the most obscure underground artists.
As a writer, Ray seems to always be in the right place at the right time and is always finding story opportunities for The Echo. In fact, mere minutes after an accident on White Street left a WestConn student injured, our editor-in-chief’s cell phone buzzed with a text from Ray, “A girl just got hit by a car on White St. Should I cover this?” The next day, in The Echo’s e-mail inbox was a story about the unfortunate accident, complete with quotes from both witnesses and WestConn officials alike.
Ray has never missed a deadline, and makes our copy editing process (usually a painstaking ordeal that can take up to 2-3 hours per article) a breeze. His stories are always concise and easy to read, yet never lack important details or information. He is truly an editor’s dream.
If you see Ray on campus, please join The Echo staff in congratulating him on an outstanding job this semester thus far.
